In your quiet time with God, has He ever spoken a word to you that got you really excited? You’ve been in anticipation about it coming to pass, and you can’t stop thinking about it! The only problem is that God spoke that word to you years ago, and you still haven’t seen it come to pass. Now you’re wondering, "Umm, God, did I hear you right?" Or maybe when you heard that spoken word from God, you laughed and thought, "Me? There is no way that could ever happen to me! That’s impossible with my external circumstances."
Nothing is impossible; maybe He’s just preparing you! I know in my own life, God has spoken a word to me. I was excited and ran with it, but I wasn’t ready! I had to pull myself back and draw closer to God. I let Him lead me and really sought Him for His perfect timing. I’m so happy I did because God knew I wasn’t ready. If I had received that blessing sooner than my time, I wouldn’t have stewarded it well. God knew exactly what I had to go through to shape and mold me to sustain the promise.
How do you know if you are in God’s perfect timing? You just know. It comes from spending time in the secret place with Him. He will give you a beautiful peace. You might still feel hesitant (especially if you are an overthinker) about stepping out on that promise, but that’s where your faith steps in. You move forward in faith, guided by the Holy Spirit, and peace will follow.
