Shabbat Shalom! Awe Israel has a special place in my heart! One thing I admire the most about Israel is Shabbat (day of rest).
Shabbat is the day God commanded the Jewish people to rest! They stop working from Friday sundown through Saturday Sunset! It's a symbolic reminder of how even God rested on the 6th day!
They are serious about Shabbat! They rush to finish their work, get groceries, meal prep, and, etcetera done before Friday at sundown.
I've been to this beautiful place! I remember the hotel we were staying at didn't serve hot food for Saturday breakfast. We ate cereals and fruits. The elevators were even turned off. That's how serious they are about the Sabbath! I love it, I think it is SO special! Families gather, rest, and most important rest in God.
Do you take a Shabbat? Are you resting? Or are you shooting shots of espresso down and running hard? At the end of 2019, I was burnt, frazzled, stress, spinning, finalizing my divorce, and a walking zombie. During that time I kept hearing God tell me rest! I ignored it because I wanted to go hard and make it to a place of happiness!
Going hard took me to a place called injured! I ended up getting a splinter in my foot that forced me to slow down! I ignored the splinter because I was like it will just go away! It didn't! It got swollen and hard to walk! I was forced to rest! I know it was such a God thing!
During that time I found the book "Rhythms of Renewal" by Rebekah Lyons! It helped open my eyes to rest and how important it is! I got off of social, spent a lot of time with Jesus, and got renewed just before the COVID lockdown.
Then I was forced to rest again! This time I was ready! During that time I heard the voice of God like never before and I accomplished crazy goals! I also set up Shabbat for myself! I decided to make it every quarterly! Take a week off and get renewed! I've done it ever since!
Currently, at this moment I'm taking a week off of social, not because I'm burnt out, it's just because I respect rest! I don't want to be forced to rest, I want to be obedient to God and get renewed!
I encourage you to implement a Shabbat in your schedule! Make it every week, monthly, quarterly whatever. Find time to get rest and renewed!
Love Your Kingdom Sister,
Jessica
