At the beginning of 2020, I was finding my rhythm—resting, getting plugged in at my church, and helping out with the Youth Group. Every Friday after work, my friends and I would meet at the same coffee shop. I looked forward to these "Coffee Fridays," trying new lattes, venting about the workweek, talking about church and Jesus, and opening up about my divorce and life’s struggles.
With every sip of hot coffee, there was encouragement, and sometimes even tears on the harder days. It was a sacred time, and it was always hard to leave. Yet, every time I walked out of that coffee shop, I felt empowered—like I could tackle life’s challenges.
Then came the end of March, and with it, the COVID lockdown. We didn’t want to give up our Friday coffee time, so we adapted. Some weeks, we met over Zoom; other weeks, we went through the drive-thru at our favorite coffee place, parked in the lot, rolled down our windows, and talked. Somehow, even in the chaos, I still left those moments feeling encouraged and ready to face whatever came next.
As time went on, those coffee shop gatherings turned into something even more powerful—spontaneous Bible studies. Our little group began to grow as more people joined in, drawn by the openness, encouragement, and community we shared. What started as casual coffee dates became moments of digging deeper into God’s Word, strengthening our faith, and building lifelong connections.
Over the years, this coffee experience has continued. While the people I meet with may change, one thing remains the same: God always brings the right people at the right time to the Worthy Café. Each person pours into my life in a unique way, offering wisdom, encouragement, and a fresh perspective on life’s journey.
I didn’t realize it then, but God was using those gatherings to set the stage for what would become the Shift Worthy Experience. It all starts at the coffee shop—what I now call the Worthy Café. It’s a place where you can chat, be vulnerable, share your struggles, and receive encouragement. And by the time you leave, you feel empowered and ready to face life’s challenges.
